Partnering With You To Keep The Bible At The Center Of Vacation Bible School

Hi everyone! I am really struggling with craft ideas for Go Fish VBS. I am interested in some of the ideas they offer in the manual but I'm wanting to venture out & add some different crafts.  In this I'm also on a budget as well. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks & God bless!

I'm not really as happy this year about the craft ideas in the manual as I was with Praise. The supply kits that you can get from Go Fish guys are really expensive, at least to us, because we are on a tight budget as well! For the boomerang craft, I found a template online that I think we're going to use. The link for that is on this page: http://nationalaquarium.wordpress.com/2013/01/25/make-your-own-boom...  but there are others too. I just googled boomerang templates and thought this looked the best. We found shoelaces for the 1st craft on ebay, look up wholesale (or bulk, can't remember which wording I used) and you can get 50 shoelaces for about $22 I think. But on some of the listings, you can choose different amounts. The ones I found were free shipping, but they're from Hong Kong, so you'd want to buy them soon, because they could take a month to get here. Hope this helps! :)

We usually come up with our own crafts - here is what we are doing:

Preschool -

Day 1 - Rain Sticks - decorated with Noah Ark Stickers

Day 2 - Reminder Rocks

Day 3  - Canvas Cross - black canvas with tape cross on it - kids paint over cross - pull up tape to see cross

Day 4 - Muddy Pig - Kids will paint a pig template pink then finger paint over it with brown finger paint

Day 5 - Fruit Tree - the craft from day 5 in the curriculum

Elementary

Day 1 - OBEY canvas - similar to cross craft above - kids will tape OBEY on canvas - paint over - pull up tape to see OBEY

Day 2 - Reminder Coaster - kids will color a picture then modge podge it on tile coaster

Day 3 - Light of the world candle - kids will take a clear container then put tissue paper squares on the inside and then 'paint glue' over the tissue. Kids will sharpie verse or Light of the World on the outside - then place an electric votive inside container

Day 4 - Boomerang - we bought ours from OTC - we will use electric tape and sharpies to decorate

Day 5 - Kite - Talk about the spirit

Hope this helps! We will have PDF's of these available next week if anyone wants them!

Thank you Pam...awesome as always.  You guys rock...looking forward to June!!! -Jamie

I would love the PDFs. Thank you.

I would also love the pdf files if you don't mind.  I like some of the ideas in the manual but some of your ideas sound better.

My Craft Coordinator is an art teacher and always comes up with great ideas!  My favorite this year is doing fruit and veggie prints to go with the Fruits of the Spirit.  The older kids will do them on canvas bags while the younger kids will do them on large sheets of paper.  To help with costs we only do crafts 3 days.  On the days they don't have a craft we are doing a station emphasizing the fruits of the Spirit - probably making a recipe book to take off on the theme from the skit and going deeper on what each fruit of the Spirit is and means.

These ideas are great! I have one question - I love the idea of the boomerangs, but I'm afraid they will end up being what real boomerangs are used for - weapons. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
