I love the skits with MC Cici, Billy Ray Bob Buffalo, etc!  I would certainly purchase a DVD of actors performing theses skits.   We are a small church in rural Virginia, and it takes all of our…Continue

We are a small church on a tight budget.  Instead of each child getting a music CD, we would like to give each family one.  We would, however, like for each child to get a backstage pass and…Continue

clever group names for Backstage with the Bible

Posted on March 24, 2011 at 1:07pm 2 Comments

We've divided our groups for Backstage with the Bible into 3 yrs - preK, K - 2nd, and 3rd - 6th.  I need help naming the groups...something like "Little Rockers"  "Jammers"...something rock n roll or music related.  I would appreciate any ideas.

Rhonday, if you were asking about shipping the backdrop, our Children's Pastor was supposed to have already shipped it to someone.  He is out of town this week, but I will check with him & find out.  If he's already shipped it, I can get you the name of who he shipped it to & maybe the schedule will work out for both of you to use it!!!

Be blessed,

Gayla Busch

How we made our 5 symbol boxes:

1. We built our box frames using 2’ x 4’s
2. We measured and cut ¼” plywood to cover 1 side of each box.
3. We cut a large circle out of the center of each panel.
4. The panels were nailed to the front of each box.
5. We bought cheap white sheet fabric in five colors to cover the panels.
6. The fabric was wrapped on the frames over top of the panels, extending over the edges and stapled on the back side of the frames.
7. The fabric is slit with a box cutter in the center of the cutout, then cut like spokes of a bike wheel. The resulting triangle shapes are wrapped to the back as tightly as possible and taped on the back with masking tape.
8. Colored fabric, in 5 bright colors, was cut to size about 1” larger than the panels and stapled on the front, covering the entire panel. This fabric should be light weight and translucent- allowing some light to shine through.
9. The five symbols were printed from the VBS CD of resources on transparencies, then enlarged to appropriate size to fit the circles on stiff paper, outlined with a permanent marker. These patterns were taped to the glittery felt fabric and cut out. Then the symbols were glued to the front of each panel as near to center as possible.
10. The frames were set up on the stage in the proper order, and connected with small metal plates and screws. They may need to be weighted from behind.
11. We used regular worklights with clamps and bowl reflectors behind the panels to light up each symbol on the appropriate day.
12. We also used a remote control switch to remotely operate the lights from the back of the room.
We saved the boxes, so they could be reused if someone wanted to.
